Helpful Hints to Understanding Search Criteria

When entering search criteria, it is important to only enter the information that is asked. Including additional information in fields will result in an incorrect search. For example, the First Name and Last Name fields are for first and last names only. Do not include middle initial in the First Name field. Do not include suffix information in the Last Name field (Jr., Sr., etc). If the search criteria include Middle Name and/or Suffix Information, a specific field will automatically be displayed in the overall search page.

Additionally, hyphenated names should not be entered into the Last Name field. Unless there is a wildcard option, (as in Oregon, Washington and Idaho Public Records), it is recommended that you individually search each last name (i.e. "Michael Smith-Jones" would require a search "Michael Smith" and "Michael Jones").

New Washington State Law Affects Ability to Perform Credit Checks on Prospective Employees

In an effort to make sure that you have the most up-to-date consumer reporting information, we wanted to make sure that our customers doing business in the state of Washington know about a recently enacted state law.

With the passage of Senate Bill 5827, employers can perform credit checks on prospective employees only if the information obtained is related to the job. For example, it would be appropriate to perform a credit check on an individual who is under consideration for a position in finance and accounting. Effective July 22, 2007, this new law reinforces the standards we currently recommend for OPENonline customers.
